Neil Gaiman's The Sandman: Preludes and Nocturnes introduces his character, The Sandman.  A mystical character who is inadvertently brought into our world by a demonic society attempting to capture Death.  Imprisoned for decades, Sandman makes his escape after patiently waiting for each member of the society to pass away.  Upon his escape he finds that his three objects of power have been scattered across the globe.  Now, in this first graphic novel of the series, Sandman must confront the powers of good and evil to reclaim what belongs to him and return to his rightful place as the Lord of Dreams.
